Privacy Policy

Last updated: 24 October 2026

Your habits and your pond stay on your iPhone. There is no account and no server of our own. Nothing you enter in the app is sent to us or to anyone else. The only thing that leaves your device is a friend invite, if you send or accept one: a random code, a colour and an anonymous iCloud ID (see below).

What stays on your iPhone

Your habits, check-ins, notes, daily moods (“How you feel”), koi and pond are stored only on your device. The Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets read the same data from a shared space on your iPhone that only Suiren and its widgets can open. Your daily moods never appear in widgets, and you can erase them at any time with Settings → Delete all feelings.

While a focus session runs, iOS can show its timer on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island, with the habit and koi name. Reminders and the end-of-focus alert are local notifications scheduled on your iPhone. None of this is sent to us or anyone else.

No analytics, ads or tracking

Suiren contains no analytics, advertising or tracking tools and no third-party SDKs. We do not build profiles, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.

Friend invites

Sending or accepting a friend invite is optional and needs you to be signed in to iCloud. When you do, Suiren saves a small record in Suiren's public iCloud (CloudKit) database, run by Apple. Each record holds only:

Invite records never include your name, your habits, your check-ins or your contacts, and Suiren never asks for access to your contacts. Names you give a friend's storey stay on your iPhone. The user ID is used only to make invites work (so each pond accepts one invite, and you can't accept your own), never for advertising or tracking. In the App Store's privacy labels this is listed as Identifiers: User ID, for app functionality.

One invite can be accepted by any number of friends, so its records stay in iCloud while the invite is open. Invites stay open for a year. To have your invite records removed sooner, email us with your invite codes.

Pond cards

A pond card is a picture made on your iPhone: a still of your pond and one milestone. It shows only counts, never your habit or koi names. It is shared only when you choose to, through the iOS share sheet, to the app or person you pick. If you leave the invite on, the card also carries an invite code and its link, which works like any other friend invite above.

Purchases

Suiren+ and decoration sets are sold through Apple's App Store. Apple handles payment, and we never see your name, Apple ID or payment details. Apple tells the app only which products you own, so it can unlock them.

Backups

Backups you export, and the optional daily backup the app saves to your own iCloud Drive, belong to you. They are stored under your Apple ID and governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. We cannot see or open them.

Photos

If you save a picture of your pond, Suiren asks for permission to add it to your photo library. It only adds pictures and never reads your existing photos.

Apple Health

Apple Health is optional. If you link a habit to steps, workouts, sleep or mindful minutes, Suiren asks to read only that kind of data, and uses today's total on your iPhone to check the habit in when you reach your goal. If you turn on saving meditation (or focus sessions), Suiren writes them to Health as Mindful Minutes. Health data is never sent to us or anyone else, never used for advertising, and never included in Suiren's backups or iCloud. You can change Suiren's access at any time in the Health app or in iOS Settings.

Crash reports

If you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in iOS Settings, Apple may send us anonymous crash reports. They contain technical details about the crash and none of your habit data.

Deleting your data

Because your data lives on your iPhone, you are in control of it. Deleting Suiren from your iPhone erases your habits, pond, journal and feelings from the device. Your own backups stay in iCloud Drive until you delete them in the Files app (iCloud Drive → Suiren). To remove your friend invite records from iCloud, see Friend invites above. We hold no other data about you, so there is nothing else to delete.

This website

This website uses no cookies, analytics, trackers or third-party fonts or scripts. It is hosted on GitHub Pages, and GitHub may keep standard server logs, such as IP addresses, to run and secure the service. See GitHub's Privacy Statement.

Children

Suiren is rated 13+ on the App Store and is meant for people aged 13 and over. It collects no personal information from anyone, including children; friend invites hold only the anonymous iCloud ID described above.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top. If Suiren ever starts collecting any other data, we will say so here and in the app before it happens.
